My name is Peter Nowell, and I've kept a boat in Craobh Haven since 1995. During that time, I've constantly tried to make sure my boat is ready so that I can literally 'turn up and cast off'. I've learned that the time I have to spend to make this happen is often time I don't have.

A boat is a significant investment. When the weather forecast is fair, I want to 'turn up and cast off'. I don't want to spend my precious boating time fixing things before I miss the tide.

In 2019, I took time out to look after other people's boats. I learned how to help owners  'turn up and cast off'. This ranged from regular mooring and boat checks, outboard and dinghy care, regular battery and engine checks, to victualling, and pro-active maintenance of ancillaries. 

Laundry, hoovering, shore power checks, battery charging, bilge water checks...some jobs are about aesthetics, and some are essential for hassle free boating.

And when asked to undertake engineering work, including systems upgrades, you'll get a comprehensive report  with photographs detailing what's been done. It's an invaluable record.
